At St Paul’s, we aim to ensure the transition into Kindergarten is a smooth and positive experience for all students.

Transition programs involve up to five opportunities for students to visit the school and participate in classes and playground activities, while getting to know their new environment and their teachers. Staff also conduct information sessions for parents to learn vital information about our community and school readiness.

New kindergarten students are well and truly a part of the school community prior to their official first day of school.  They are connected with a buddy from Year 6 who assists them in the first couple of weeks of school with the rules and routines of St Paul’s.

We also assist Year 6 students with their transition to high school through communicating with our high school feeder schools on a regular basis and discussing students’ needs with the Year 7 Coordinators.

Students requiring extra transition support benefit from the work of our learning support team who collaborate with teachers, parents and the high schools on the best ways for them to move into their new environment.
